Diagnostic Tools For Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is diagnosed by several different methods and investigation is prompted as a result of routine x-rays, or investigation due to persistent coughing or coughing up blood. This obviously needs to be confirmed so a variety of diagnostic tools can be used. Typically, diagnostic tools and procedures include:

CT Scan
PET Scan
Needle Biopsy
Surgical biopsy

These tests may be used in isolation but usually they are applied in combination, including using all of them.

CT Scan

CT stands for Computed Tomography and uses x-rays to provide an anatomic detail of the patient. It is non-invasive and is risk-free and pain-free.

PET Scan

PET stands for Positron Emission Tomography and is a non-invasive diagnostic tool which looks at the metabolic activity which is occurring in the patient’s body. Cancer is metabolically active and stands out amongst tissue which is less so. PET Scans are an excellent tool for determining whether the abnormality is cancerous (or malignant).
The procedure involves an injection of a glucose solution which is laced with a mildly radioactive tracer. The metabolically active cancer uses glucose to grow and takes it up so it is highlighted when we perform the scan. Typically, the results of the PET Scan are fused with those of the CT Scan to identify exactly where the metabolic activity is taking place within the lungs. As the lungs are primarily composed of air, this is metabolically inert so the tumor will immediately stand out, if indeed there is one. You should know that areas of the lungs which are inflamed or infected are also metabolically active, so a positive PET Scan does not mean you have lung cancer.

This is a minimally invasive surgical procedure whereby a flexible fiber optic tool is passed down into the major airways. This involves passing a flexible tube down through either the nose of the mouth and then washings or biopsies can be taken for further analysis.

Needle Biopsy

Here a surgeon will use a CT Scan to direct them in the insertion of a needle into the abnormality’s location within the lung. The needle is used to remove some of the tissue associated with the abnormality and is then subjected to further analysis to determine whether it is cancer and malignant.

Surgical Biopsy

When a tumor is in an inaccessible location or is perhaps, too small to allow a needle biopsy to take place, then a surgical biopsy is required. This involves an incision between two ribs and the removal of part of the lung tissue upon which the tumor is located. Once removed, the tissue is analyzed further at the pathology lab to determine its origin.

Post Diagnosis: “Staging”

Once a diagnosis of lung cancer has been confirmed the next step in the process is to determine what stage of the disease the patient has. Staging refers to how much cancer the patient has actually got and the location within their body of a tumor or tumors. By staging the cancer, your doctor is able to determine the most appropriate course of treatment depending on whether the tumor size (T), whether it has spread to the lymp nodes (N) and whether it has spread elsewhere within the body or metastasized (M).

Suffering From Chronic Stomach Acid Problems?

In a search to promote a long and healthy life, a lot of Americans forget about their stomachs, which results in things ranging from simple heartburn to ulcers and even cancer. The effects of alcohol, smoking, and stress added to the rate of infection create the perfect conditions for stomach distress and disease. A combination of four nutrients: zinc, carnosine, licorice extract, and cranberry, work together to protect stomach function from the environment. These nutrients not only relieve distress, but they also support the body’s natural defense mechanisms against inflammation and the changes that can lead to cancer. A fifth nutrient, picrorhiza, protects the mucosa and can now be included as part of a natural gastric health remedy.

The human stomach, with its extreme acidity, provides a primary defense against infection and also helps in the first stages of digestion. A thick coating of protective mucus is steadily secreted by the surface mucous cells in the stomachs lining to continually protect its self from Hydrochloric acid. Almost everyone has experienced some kind of “upset stomach”, which we associate with overindulgence foods and stress. Although these are only thought of as mild annoyances, each episode causes a bit more lasting damage, which eventually results in cellular injury, which in turn causes inflammation. This inflammation then produces free radicals, which go on to create more tissue destruction and eventually damage DNA, thus potentially leading to cancers of the stomach worst case.

Many natural substances have been used around the world for thousands of years to promote stomach health. Modern science is finding that some of these “folk remedies” actually have potent effects on boosting immunity, reducing inflammation, and simply improving physical protection of the stomach lining. Zinc, a micronutrient that has multiple functions in human biology, mainly functions as a defender against free radical damage. It has been found that the more severe the inflammation in people is directly related to lower levels of zinc in individuals.

Zinc also helps to stabilize the membranes of cells that release burst of inflammatory cytokines when they are stimulated by injury or allergy. This mineral is also a well known immune modulator, which can reduce the recurrence rate of certain inflammation-sensitive cancers. There’s no doubt that zinc is a potent anti-inflammatory, and gastroprotective nutrient, but when it is added to amino acid carnosine, these effects can be boosted even further.

Certain fruits, cranberries particularly, are rich in anthocyanins, which have extreme antioxidant abilities. Other compounds that are found in cranberries also prevent bacteria from settling in the urinary tract. A review by nutritional experts found that regular intake of cranberry juice and other dietary products may be an alternative solution for those people who are at risk for H. pylori colonization. It also seems as though cranberries and there extracts can be placed alongside zinc-carnosine as an important component of an effective stomach health regimen.

Licorice extracts have also been shown to help fight stomach infection. Various studies have found that these extracts have potent anti-inflammatory activies, as they reduce cytokine production and increase the protection of the protective stomach mucus. These characteristics, when placed alongside those of zinc-carnosine and cranberry extracts, provide hope that a basis for an alternative therapeutic agent fighting H. pylori can form.

Picrorhiza, which is already used to speed healing in other infections such as hepatitis A, demonstrates unique wound-healing properties, stimulating tissue growth, nerve cell recovery, and blood vessel formation. Even though the multi-armed approach to gastric protection and improved stomach health seems to be complete with zinc-carnosine, cranberry, and licorice extract, picrorhiza extract brings together the infection-fighting, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and tissue-healing capabilities of multiple compounds, which all have complementary actions.

If you’re looking for a alternative approach to boost stomach health, the vitamins and herbs listed above are a great starting point. Please do not discontinued prescription medication from your doctor, some cases of stomach issues must be consulted with your doctor before discontinuing use.

Finasteride without Prescription-What may be the Possible Side effects?

Finasteride is a medically prescribed drug used to deal with several male related problems such as hair loss and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The drug is commonly available in most drug stores against a doctor’s prescription. When used to treat BPH, Finasteride 5mg is the most effective way out. On the other hand, doctors usually prescribe Finasteride 1mg for hair loss. However, it is also possible to get Finasteride without Prescription. Though this is not approved by most doctors and authorities, the fact remains that it is quite easy to get Finasteride without Prescription. However, there are a few risks which most men do not pay heed to if they go for this drug without any prescription.
One of the most well-known side effects of taking Finasteride without Prescription is impotency. Other problems often associated to administration of Finasteride without Prescription include abnormal and erratic ejaculation, decrease in the volume of ejaculations and abnormal sexual activity. Testicular pain, gynecomastia, ejaculation disorder and erectile dysfunction are also common side effects seen in men who take Finasteride without Prescription.

When most men experience the side effects of taking Finasteride without Prescription, they discontinue the drug sooner or later. However, this measure does not prove helpful for many males. Even after the discontinuation of the drug, many males face persisting side effects of the drug. Though these symptoms are not necessarily degenerative, they do have telling effects on the male physiology. These sex-related side effects are the leading cause of worry when it comes to Finasteride without Prescription.

One of the gravest consequences of taking Finasteride without Prescription, however, includes an increased risk of prostate cancer. There is yet no evidence found for the negative, positive or neutral effects of Finasteride on the possible risks of developing prostate cancer-like problems. However, when Finasteride without Prescription is used for treating BPH, it may also mask any existing and potential risks of prostate cancer. This delay in diagnosis may, in turn, lead to the further development of a prostate tumor which is only be visible in the advance stages of cancer.

One of the latest developments in this area includes a warning by several medical organizations across the world regarding Finasteride without Prescription increasing the risk of breast cancer in men. Though this is not a widely found problem like the sexual side effects of Finasteride, it is still a potential risk.

The risks of taking Finasteride without Prescription extend beyond the male who is actually ingesting the drug. With Finasteride without Prescription, the risk of accidental ingestion by women is always present. If a pregnant woman happens to ingest the drug, it can cause birth defects in the unborn fetus. In fact, the medication can also be absorbed by the risk increasing the risk of this problem.

Another great concern regarding Finasteride without Prescription includes its illegal use by athletes. In fact, numerous organizations related to sports have banned Finasteride without Prescription with a zero-tolerance policy towards its use. Many famous athletes have also been banned from their respective sports for the illicit use of this drug.

Preventing Penis Warts – Understanding and Protecting against HPV

Genital warts are by far the most common type of sexually transmitted disease, affecting men and women alike. This widespread disease is caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus, or HPV – an infectious agent that can be found in every part of the world. While penis warts are not harmful in and of themselves, they can be easily transmitted to a sexual partner, and they can increase the risk for certain types of cancer. Because of this, it is important that men take care to avoid contact with the disease, and to take steps to prevent transferring it to a partner. The right approach to penis care and protection can help minimize the risk.

What is HPV?
Human papillomavirus refers to numerous strains of a common virus that can be found everywhere. Nearly every person will come in contact with some form of the virus at least once in their lifetime; however, not everyone will develop symptoms. HPV is responsible for warts on other parts of the body, as well; only some forms of the virus cause genital lesions.

Because it is so widespread and so easily transmittable, the only way an individual can guarantee they will not contract the virus is to abstain from all sexual activity. However, using a condom can provide substantial protection. Taking steps to prevent the disease is important, because HPV has been associated with an increased risk for cervical and penile cancers.

What are the symptoms?
The typical signs of HPV include penis warts (or, in women, vaginal warts) that are flesh-colored or whitish-gray in appearance. They may have a domed head, and they may develop a rough, cauliflower-like surface. The warts may appear singly or in clusters, and they may be accompanied by itching and mild soreness in the surrounding area.

It is very important to remember that not all people who are carrying the virus will develop symptoms, but anyone who has been exposed can transmit the disease to another person, whether they have warts or not.

Are penis warts always HPV?
Generally, warts on the penis are a sure sign of HPV. However, any unusual lesions should be checked by a trained medical professional, because other diseases can cause sores that are easily mistaken for warts – treating these sores appropriately depends on their source. A doctor can diagnose HPV by taking a skin biopsy – a small sample of tissue from the affected area.

How is HPV treated?
There is no cure for HPV, but in many cases, the warts will clear up with no interference at all. It is possible to remove the warts themselves. This should be done by a doctor, and the wart care products that are available at most pharmacies are not intended for use on the penis. Removing the warts does not eliminate the virus, and there is always a chance that they will grow back.

Extra TLC for the Penis
A man can never be too careful when it comes to protecting the penis, both from diseases and also from the ravages of daily life. While there is no substitute for using the proper protection during sex and making sure to keep up with yearly physical exams, a little TLC added to the daily penis care routine can help to make sure the manhood is as healthy as possible.

A daily washing is essential to remove built-up grime, sweat and body fluids that can irritate the skin and pave the way for infection. Once the area is clean, applying a penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) that is enriched with vitamins, antioxidants and natural emollients can help keep the skin well-moisturized and nourished. Doing so can prevent dry, cracked skin and make it more difficult for harmful microbes to penetrate. While a penis cream is not a substitute for a prescription medication, and it cannot prevent disease, it can go a long way toward boosting the skin’s natural defenses, as well as keep it looking smooth and supple.

Meshtholioma Cancer Cure Treatment

If you or someone you love is suffering from mesothelioma, want to get relieve of it here is the accurate way. Have you lost hope of getting cured with it. Don’t get disheartened here we prop up you and treat with the natural supplements with no side effects.

Mesothelioma (also called asbestos lung cancer) is a disease that causes the deadly tumors to develop in the chest and lung cavity. This site is intended to guide as originality in treating this deadly cancer.

Mesothelioma (cancer of the mesothelium) is a disease in which cells of the mesothelium become abnormal and divide without control or order. They can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs. Cancer cells can also metastasize (spread) from their original site to other parts of the body. It is a rare disease caused as a result of malignant cancerous cells lining the patient’s body cavities such as chest, abdominal region or the area surrounding the heart. This disease is very difficult to assess consistently due to the great variability in time before diagnosis and the rate of progression of malignant mesothelioma.

Even insignificant exposure to asbestos (commonly reported in such work environments as asbestos mills, mines, shipping yards, some older Navy ships or patients homes) is known to result in mesothelioma, which in many cases does not occur for decades after initial exposure to this cancer-causing substance. It is also known that family members of workers exposed to asbestos can contract this disease through exposure to the workers clothing. Smoking greatly increases the risk of contracting mesothelioma. Some of the earliest symptoms of mesothelioma can often be mistaken for less serious illness and are commonly overlooked. Some patients do not show any signs of sickness in the early stages of development of the disease. Most commonly the symptoms include dyspnea, pleuritic pain, lasting cough, fatigue, and weight loss. This disease is more common in men. Most cases of mesothelioma occur 30-45 years after initial exposure to asbestos. Once it develops, this cancer will continue to grow until it is treated. It is very important that the disease is diagnosed and treated as early as possible.

Working with asbestos is the major risk factor for mesothelioma. A history of asbestos exposure at work is reported in about 70 percent to 80 percent of all cases. However, mesothelioma has been reported in some individuals without any known exposure to asbestos. If tiny asbestos particles float in the air, especially during the manufacturing process, they may be inhaled or swallowed, and can cause serious health problems. In addition to mesothelioma, exposure to asbestos increases the risk of lung cancer, asbestosis (a noncancerous, chronic lung ailment), and other cancers, such as those of the larynx and kidney.

Mesothelioma is a malignant disease that can affect the lining of any internal organ. Most often the pleural lining of the lungs and/or the peritoneal lining of the organs in the abdominal cavity are affected. The plural lining of the lungs is affected when harmful amounts of asbestos are inhaled. When symptoms do develop they may include difficulty breathing, chest pain, and a chronic cough

The faster you consult the doctor and get specialized care the better your chances will be of dealing with this hazardous cancer. Please contact our doctor as soon as possible to get more information and cure the disease.

Many cancer treatment options are not very effective in treating mesothelioma. But at our center we provide you the treatment to reduce the disease and free you from the suffering from our specialist with the medication which are natural and no side effects.

Although reported incidence rates have increased in the past 20 years, mesothelioma is still a relatively rare cancer. Mesothelioma occurs more often in men than in women and risk increases with age, but this disease can appear in either men or women at any age.

Smoking does not appear to increase the risk of mesothelioma. However, the combination of smoking and asbestos exposure significantly increases a person’s risk of developing cancer of the air passageways in the lung.

People who work with asbestos wear personal protective equipment to lower their risk of exposure.

Treatment for mesothelioma depends on the location of the cancer, the stage of the disease, and the patient’s age and general health. Sometimes, these treatments are combined.

Thrombosed External Pile Cure

Hemorrhoid is a condition where veins in the anal sphincter are enlarged or inflamed and appear as hard piles. It happens because of increased pressure and stress on the rectal vein. When hemorrhoids occur within the anal region these are referred to as internal hemorrhoids while the external ones are visible round the rectum. Hemorrhoids are specified depending on their symptoms and formation on the body.

The notable reasons for internal hemorrhoid includes prolonged trots, eating disorderly foods containing low fibrous contents, staying longer sitting or still-standing. The sports like cycling also occasionally becomes the cause of hemorrhoids. In ladies, pregnancy is the most usual cause for occurrence of hemorrhoids. When blood pressure in the area is increased thanks to certain illnesses, it also causes hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids, be it internal hemorrhoids or external, cause irritation.

While talking about preventions and treatments of hemorrhoids, it is also important to know about the indicators of hemorrhoids. Indications of hemorrhoids include trouble in passing bowl movement and blood stains with stool.

Internal pile, when over enlarged and appear hanging out from anus are accidentally external hemorrhoids ; but these are, in truth, prolapsed internal pile. Swelling, itching and agony around anus and spincter particularly at the time of defecation are other common indicators of hemorrhoids. There are some other illnesses like anal fistula, anal cancer, peri-anal hematoma, anal fissures, and anal abscesses that have similar symptoms like that of hemorrhoids. Procedure of treatment of hemorrhoids alter depending on their condition.

To treat hemorrhoids, 2 pronged technique is more appropriate ; one includes preventative measures while other includes treatment. The preventive part includes keeping hygienic conditions and avoiding scratching the ass, taking fiber rich diet such as vegetables, fruits, whole-meal bread besides consuming masses of fluids and water, avoiding pressure during bowl movement, using soft toiler paper or cleansing the anal with warm bath. Taking hot baths in the area two to three times daily also helps a lot in beating the problem. As preventative measure, very spicy foods and alcohol should be avoided.

How cancer can affect your sex life

Sexual dysfunction is a common yet neglected side effect of cancer. About 90 percent of all female cancer survivors will experience sexual difficulties as a result of the disease or treatment. But South African clinicians say patients are often unprepared to deal with this.

After the bouts of radiation and chemotherapy are over, many cancer survivors are left to face the often unspoken side effects in the bedroom.

But sexual dysfunction does not just affect female cancer survivors. If you take all the African countries together, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.said while speaking at the Aortic IC Conference that ended in Durban.

At least 30 percent of all prostate cancer patients who undergo surgery to remove some or all of their prostate gland complain of erectile dysfunction following the procedure, Incrocci explained. As many as 40 percent of men will also experience impotence following radiation treatment.

“Once they get erectile dysfunction, they never recover from it,” he said. “So it is a big problem.Cancer and its treatment profoundly affect a person’s sexual wellbeing and their intimate world.According to sexologist it is not uncommon for couples to separate after cancer.Yet most South African doctors do not counsel patients about the sexual difficulties that come with cancer.

Only 25 percent of physicians said they would discuss sexual issues, even if they believed that there was a problem.she added.Even then, most rarely address sexual issues.Wasserman said doctors commonly gave the excuse that patients’ sexual health was not their responsibility, or they did not feel comfortable or have the time to talk about it.Sexual functioning might not be as it was before, but there is hope that patients can develop a ‘new normal.

The focus is on rehabilitation, not treatment because it never changes,” Wasserman said. “We refer to it as the ‘new normal’ because there isn’t a return to what was normal for them beforehand.Physical pleasure and emotional intimacy are life affirming, relieve stress, and promote closeness and healing for both survivors and partners.

During or after treatment you may start to think about the impact of cancer on your sexuality.

Emotions and sexuality

Dealing with a cancer diagnosis, its treatment and other challenges can make you feel like you’re on an emotional roller-coaster. This can change what you think about yourself .You may feel less confident about who you are and what you can do, particularly if your body has changed physically.

These negative emotions can affect your sexuality and your attitude towards intimacy. Acknowledge the different emotions you feel so you can try to address them as soon as possible if they are affecting your day-to-day life.
It will help to talk about how you feel with your partner, other people who have had cancer, or a professional you feel comfortable with, such as a doctor or a counsellor.

Common emotions you may feel include:

Anger: It’s normal to feel angry about having cancer and how it may have affected your sexuality or ability to have children.

Anxiety: The thought of having sex again after your cancer treatment can cause anxiety. You may be unsure of how you’ll perform or self-conscious about being seen naked. If you’re single, you may feel anxious about getting involved in a new relationship.

Fear: You may worry that others will avoid or reject you when they see how your body has changed. You may not be able to imagine yourself being in a sexual situation again.

Guilt: Some people wonder if past sexual activity contributed to the cancer. Cancer is not sexually transmitted, but a few cancers may be linked to a sexually transmitted infection – e.g. human papillomavirus (HPV) is linked to cervical and anal cancers.

Shame: You may feel ashamed by the changes that affect your sexuality, your appearance or the way your body functions.

Self-consciousness: If your body has changed physically after treatment, you may feel self-conscious. Often people discover their partner isn’t as concerned about these changes as they are. Communicating with your partner about this is important.

Remember that although sexual attractiveness is often judged on how people look, sex appeal is actually a combination of looks and other qualities, such as friendliness, thoughtfulness and sense of humour.

The Consumer Electronics Show

This is one of the largest trade shows in North America and it’s not even open to the public. What is truly amazing about this show is that each year major manufacturers are required to have some big product that they unveil for this show or their year can be dramatically effected in the sales department. It really is amazing how powerful one trade show can be and how each year it impacts our lives.

For many of the past years Apple has been the company that has taken most of the thunder from the show. Introducing the iPod originally and then the iPod Nano and of course the iPhone and the Mac Book Air. This year’s show has been somewhat overshadowed by Steve Jobs health, Steve is normally the guy that represents Apple and does the keynote speech which includes introducing the new product. Recently because of his health Apple shares have dropped dramatically and has forced him to release a statement to the media, apparently Steve is doing ok as far as his previous issues with pancreatic cancer were concerned and is suffering now from a hormone issue that has caused significant weight loss. All the best to you Steve for a full recovery!

So who will be the star of this year’s CES conference and what will the product be? TV’s are always getting better and thinner in size and that might be some big news? What about a laptop with a larger flash hard drive? Apple, RIM and Samsung have all recently released new versions of smartphones so I can’t see there being a big announcement regarding cell phones this year. I personally don’t know how you can make MP3’s much better aside from maybe lowering the price! I guess the big question is what does the world need or more importantly what cool gadget and brilliant marketing plan will make us think we need it?

There is of course the economy to think about so pricing for these new innovations will have to come in at value based pricing in order to compete. Although I like many of you I am getting really sick of talking about the economy and am really quite ready to start talking about something else this will however be on the mind of many consumers.

I personally want to see less fluff and more substance from the products released this year. I don’t really care if a TV is super thin does it have an amazing picture and please tell me that it’s not going to be $ 10,000. It will also be quite refreshing to know that the HD DVD battle is over, we can all argue about what they really won, I personally am looking forward to more options being available for streaming hi def movies to a hard drive in my house?

One thing is for sure this show will be the benchmark for the new products that are launched this year, so if you are a tech gadget geek like myself you will be anxiously anticipating what goes on.

Chemotherapy For Bowel Cancer

Chemotherapy is the using of the specific anticancer drugs for destroying cancer cells.

Complementary therapy

After the operation on the cancer of colon or rectum, doctors may prescribe a supportive therapy. Complementary therapy is appointed in the case where the tumor is fully removed, but its microscopic structure indicates a large degree of likelihood of recidivism. This probability is further increased if proven axillary lymph nodes. The reasons for the spread of cancer to other parts and organs of the body are not known accurately. Perhaps the primary tumor cells into blood flow or lymphatic system, and then they can become “embryo” formation of new tumors (metastases or secondary cancer) in other parts of the body. These tumors in the initial stage may be so small that they are within a few years, not detectable.

Supporting Chemotherapy

With bowel cancer, usually assigned as an auxiliary chemotherapy drug, known as the “5-Fluorouracil” (5-FU). Typically, 5-FU given in combination with vitamin called “folic acid”. Sometimes the drug 5-FU designate together with the drug, called “Levamisole”. It is believed that it has an impact on the immune system. There are several different ways of carrying out this therapy. Your doctor will discuss with you in detail the question of choosing the most appropriate method of treatment right for you. For more detailed information, the chemotherapeutic drugs described below.

The newest methods of treatment

There is some evidence that a supportive therapy to prevent relapse of disease, may benefit from treatment and also through the use of antibodies, which is called “the method of 17-1A” or “Panorex”. Antibodies introduced into the vein of the forearm using the infusion, the procedure lasts for several hours. Treatment is usually done outpatient. This method has not yet been licensed since is currently experimental.

Chemotherapy in the secondary or advanced cancer (metastases outside the intestine) according to diagnosis Many patients after the first course of treatment for the cancer of large intestine are no longer facing any problems. Some patients develop a relapse of disease, or cancer spreading to other organs. Such cancer is called “secondary” cancer (“metastasis”). In addition, sometimes as early as the time when cancer was diagnosed for the first time, has already happened the spread of cancer cells outside the intestine.

The most important fact, which must always remember is that a secondary cancer of the bowel very often may be treated. Your doctor will take into account the large number of factors before deciding on what treatment method to nominate you. These include the following factors: how much of your body hit by a secondary cancer, how supportive you were before therapy, as well as the general state of your health. As with the use of supplementary chemotherapy in this case, you can assign the drug 5FU. It operates more efficiently if the patient uses it in combination with vitamin called “folic acid”.

The drug 5FU can be administered either directly by injection into a vein of the forearm, or in the form of a long process of intravenous infusions. If the product designated in the form of prolonged infusions, it is necessary to resort to aid “central catheter”, for example Hikman Catheter or Portakat Catheter. This line is a piece of flexible plastic tube of small diameter, which is injected into the main vein and the display on the sternum. In such a situation it leaves for the entire period of the designated treatment. This facilitates the introduction of patient medication and avoids the unpleasant sensations associated with repeated injections.

Before installing from a patient, local or general anesthesia is given. Such treatment can be received without interruption for several months, as a rule, it gives very weak side effects. A study, to determine the most effective way to administer patient medication 5FU, continues. There are several ways to chemotherapeutic treatment. It may take the form of course, the duration of which is usually a few days. This course takes place the patient in the hospital environment.

During the period of treatment should be a rest period lasting several weeks, during which the patient’s body returns to normal, eliminating the side effects of treatment. The number of courses assigned to each specific patient depends on the type of cancer found in the patient and his reactions to drugs. Chemotherapy can also be in the form of weekly injections on an outpatient basis.

Side effects

Drugs acting on the cancer cells in the human body, can also lead to a temporary reduction in the content of normal cells in the blood. When these cells become a little, person is more susceptible to infection and quickly exhausting. During the course of chemotherapy the patient is regularly taking blood for analysis and, if necessary, makes a blood transfusion or injected antibiotics to combat any infection.

Other possible side effects of chemotherapy include nausea and diarrhea. Another side effect of chemotherapy is hair loss, but it is unusual in the case of drugs, appointed with bowel cancer. Some drugs also cause inflammation of mucous membrane of the mouth and the formation of small sores. It is important to regularly rinsing the mouth, as it is right to do, you explain to a nurse.

If you have no appetite, you can replace normal meals with nutritious drinks. In the event of sickness your doctor may prescribe you anti that weaken this sentiment, and sometimes removed altogether. Although these side effects are quite difficult to portable, they disappear immediately after treatment. If you have all the hair, they will grow surprisingly fast again. Many patients are wigs, hats or neckerchief until grow hair. BACUP Organization published a brochure “The problem of hair loss and ways to address it”, which may be useful to you.

Not all chemicals are of the same side effects, but in some patients side effects of drugs were not observed. Your doctor will warn you, what problems you are likely to be faced in connection with the passage of chemotherapeutic course, if they do occur. Tell your doctor about your side effects detected, because most of them can be reduced by using special drugs. Chemotherapy acts on different people in different ways. Many people during the course of treatment can lead a normal life, while others find that they are very tiring and forced to do everything very slowly. Do as much as you can, and try not to strain.

The Importance of a Good Diet on Your Heart

Your heart beats roughly 100,000 times a day, which causes about 2,000 gallons of blood to circulate through its chambers. (Source: Tom Scheve) This organ, which is actually a muscle, is vital for survival, so taking care of it should be at the top of your list. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and in 2010 it will cost America more than $ 316 million in health care services, medicines, and lost wages. (Source: The Centers for Disease Control) With all that we know about heart disease and its origins you would think that the prevalence would be on the decline; however, it is not. For the most part, heart disease can be controlled with proper diet and sufficient exercise.

How a Poor Diet Affects Your Heart

You have all heard the saying, “You are what you eat.” It is true, though; the foods that you consume on a daily basis play a huge part in the internal workings of your body. Your diet has an effect on your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, body makeup, and more. These chemical and physical processes take a toll on whether or not your heart functions at its optimal level. It is very important to know what the healthy ranges are for your heart and body so that you don’t let yourself slip onto the path towards heart disease.

A healthy human being should have a blood pressure level of less than 120/80 mmHg. Staying close to this level is very important because the more your heart beats, the harder it works and the sooner it will wear out. Yes, your heart has a life span to it and can wear out. A healthy diet is an important factor in blood pressure because it keeps your arteries from building plaque (narrowing artery walls) and raising your blood pressure into hypertensive levels, which will really cause your heart to work hard.

A Well-Balanced Diet is Good for Your Heart

Eating a well balanced diet is how people can prevent themselves from getting heart disease in the future. When planning a healthy diet, one should look to consume whole grains, lean meats, plenty of fruits and vegetables, and foods that are low in fat. One of the most important parts of the human diet is where you get your protein from. Animal products are a key source of protein; however, these sources also contain saturated fats which are bad for your heart. Lean meats such as poultry and fish are lower in saturated fats. There are other sources of protein that you can choose from as well and they are not chalked full of unhealthy substances that could lead to heart disease. These sources include beans, whole grain foods, lentils, vegetables, protein shakes, and liquid protein shots.

The last two, protein shakes and liquid protein shots, are excellent sources to get the protein that your body needs. These sources contain quality protein derived from cow’s milk and are low in calories and fat.

Cholesterol and Your Heart

Your diet is the single greatest aspect that you can control when it comes to preventing heart disease. By keeping an eye on your diet, you can lower your blood pressure, lower your bad cholesterol levels and raise your good ones. Too much cholesterol within the body can lead to heart disease. Here’s how. Your body makes cholesterol, but when there is too much circulating around within the body it can build up along the walls of your arteries, leading to a form of heart disease known as atherosclerosis. When this happens, the blood that your heart is pumping has a hard time getting through, which will deprive your organs (and the heart) of the oxygen that they need. If there is enough buildup on the walls of your arteries or even a blockage, then you could suffer a heart attack, which is where part of the muscle dies because of lack of oxygen. You can prevent this from happening by controlling your cholesterol levels.

There are two types of cholesterol in the body. First, there is the bad kind which is known as LDL or low-density lipoprotein. You want to make sure that your LDL levels are below 100 to stay healthy. The other type of cholesterol is HDL or high-density lipoprotein. This kind is made of more protein and less cholesterol, so it works to combat the damage that the LDL does to your body. When measuring your HDL levels you want them to be high (because it is the good stuff). Optimal HDL levels should be 60 or greater. High levels of HDL help your body to fight off heart disease. Just on a side note, your total cholesterol should be less than 200.

The final component you need to know about is triglycerides. Triglycerides are fats that are found in the blood stream which are also linked to heart disease. You want these levels to be less than 150. The levels of HDL, LDL and triglycerides are all influenced by what you consume on a daily basis.

Since you can see that HDL and LDL are both types of protein, it is no surprise why protein plays such a big part in whether or not you will have heart disease. When you are selecting your foods, it is important to have high quality proteins that will not raise your LDL (but will raise your HDL). Liquid protein is an ideal choice to do this. If more people were educated on this source of protein in conjunction with a healthy diet, then the country could take a step in the right direction for lessening and hopefully one day eliminating heart disease.

If you do not want to wind up as a statistic in some journal as a fatality of heart disease, then you need to take action now. The steps that you should be following are these:

– If you are already overweight or obese, then you need to lose weight by combining a well-balanced diet and exercise.

– Evaluate your diet and replace poor sources of protein with those that will not add calories and fat into your diet.

– Keep track of your cholesterol levels and triglyceride levels.

– Visit your doctor in order to make sure that there are no underlying health problems that you may be suffering from.

You can prevent heart disease; but, the longer that you put off being proactive, the less likely you will be to make a difference and save your own life.
